It’s National Picnic Day!
Pack up your favorite portable foods and get ready to celebrate!
That’s right. Don’t let anyone tell you that life is no picnic…because today it is!
We did our research and found the following fun facts surrounding picnics:
- From the French for piquenique, picnic means a meal eaten outdoors
- Picnics evolved from Medieval hunting feasts and Victorian garden parties
- During the early 19th century a group of wealthy London citizens formed “The Picnic Society” to promote picnics as social gatherings
Now that we’re all educated, let’s focus on the main event: HOW TO CELEBRATE?!
Well this largely depends on the weather. If possible, spend Picnic Day outdoors in the beautiful sunshine. However, here in Phoenix, we may be celebrating with an indoor party to avoid the heat. No matter where you are, bring the picnic spirit with a large checkered blanket, a basket of sandwiches, cheese and snacks, and a big smile!
Don’t mind the ants…they’re celebrating too!
